The Commercial Lending Analyst plays a crucial role in executing the underwriting processes related to commercial credit. The individual will be tasked with drafting credit memorandums and assisting Commercial Relationship Managers in preparing commercial loan documentation for approval.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Employ financial spreading software to analyze financial data from statements or tax returns, scrutinizing business financial documents and individual tax returns to formulate credit requests.
  • Draft credit memoranda and financial ratio analyses for submission to the relevant lending authority, including the Senior Loan Committee, for endorsement.
  • Authorize loans within designated credit limits, identify potential risks, and facilitate the presentation of credit proposals.
  • Provide assistance to Commercial Lending Teams and Relationship Managers as required.
  • Collaborate closely with the Loan Documentation team to ensure all due diligence meets standards prior to loan finalization.
  • Support the training of new associates on system applications and appropriate underwriting practices.
  • Travel to client locations and various WSFS facilities as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent professional experience is essential.
  • A solid foundation in finance and accounting is necessary for commercial loan underwriting and analysis, including the ability to review and interpret client financial statements and tax returns, as well as data from personal and business credit bureaus.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in commercial credit underwriting, with a strong emphasis on evaluating personal and business financial statements.
  • A general understanding of business and banking principles is required.
  • Strong analytical capabilities are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required.
  • The ability to think independently while collaborating with other professionals and structuring loan requests in compliance with bank policies is crucial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.
  • A solid understanding of applying Loan Policy to underwriting documentation is necessary.
