Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Liaison to join our team at Sharon Hospital. As a key member of our patient access team, you will play a critical role in facilitating patient flow through our system, ensuring accurate patient identification, and securing payment sources.

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and staff promptly and professionally, checking them into the system and providing direction based on appointment location, financial clearance, and counseling status.
  • Respond to telephone calls according to established customer service standards, providing requested information and contributing to the reduction of abandoned call rates and average speed answered.
  • Accurately search and select patients within the hospital system, maintaining the integrity of the Electronic Master Patient Index (EMPI) and ensuring accurate patient identification.
  • Schedule appointments for services with patients directly or physician offices, following designated protocols and clinical EMRs.
  • Registration functions, entering accurate and complete demographic and financial information to aid in securing payment for services rendered.
  • Insurance eligibility verification and execution of payor requirements as needed, initiating eligibility transactions via email or contact with payors.
  • Estimate services when appropriate, communicating and actively soliciting patient liability.
  • Enter testing orders in the appropriate system, understanding coding, procedural protocols, and the charge description master.
  • Obtain signatures for all required organization, state, and federal consents and/or notifications.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and one year of job-related experience.
  • Associate's degree with six months of job-related experience preferred.
  • Basic MS Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word skills.
  • Customer service and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to obtain National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) certification after one year of service.
Working Conditions
  • Significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.
  • Some occupational risk.
  • Sedentary/light effort, may exert up to 10 pounds of force.
  • Generally pleasant working conditions.
