Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Support Specialist to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will provide academic support to students in various non-stem related subject areas, helping them to develop their critical thinking and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized academic support to students in one or more non-stem related subject areas.
  • Assist students in analyzing assignments and assigned readings, and help them to interpret discipline-specific problems and situations.
  • Help students to clarify critical thinking and/or communication skills, and assist them in working in an online format.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate, Equivalent, or Current Running Start Student.
  • Completion of course(s) to be tutored with an average decimal grade of 3.5 or higher.
  • Basic computer competency.
  • Demonstrate excellence in tutoring subject area.
  • Follow campus regulations, local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Work various hours.
  • Work successfully in high-attendance, high-volume study centers.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Be adaptable and flexible.
  • Foster a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation.
  • Function as a team player.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills; including building and maintaining internal/external customer satisfaction.
  • Possess an appreciation of diversity and the benefits of a commitment to cultural awareness and sensitivity in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, vision, and values.

Additional Information

This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week, with an hourly rate of $18.20 - $24.23 DOE. They are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire but could qualify for the following:
