General Summary

The Sales Operations Manager is a dynamic, responsible, and knowledgeable leader who excels in cultivating relationships and driving sales performance. This role is focused on developing team members and providing guidance to achieve success aligned with the vision, mission, values, and service standards of Bank Independent.

The Sales Operations Manager is accountable for ensuring team members deliver outstanding customer experiences, achieve sales growth targets, and adhere to sales office policies and procedures. This position plays a crucial role in fostering long-term, profitable relationships through every customer interaction, contributing to the bank's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

This role requires flexible hours, community involvement, and networking, along with occasional collaborative calls with other business lines and lenders.

Customer Relationship Development

  • Possesses knowledge of principles and methods for showcasing, promoting, selling, and servicing products or services, including effective sales techniques.
  • Maintains a consistent focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences to both new and existing clients by exemplifying our Standards of Service.
  • Actively listens for opportunities to cross-sell additional products and services to meet and exceed sales and service objectives.
  • Addresses customer complaints related to sales and service.
  • Collaborates with the Sales and Service Team, Sales Office team, and Sales Officers to achieve and surpass sales and service goals, as well as deposit and loan growth targets.

Team Development

  • Identifies the developmental needs of team members; coaches, mentors, and assists in enhancing their skills and knowledge.
  • Conducts individual meetings with each team member to help formulate and implement their Individual Development Plan (IDP).
  • Consults with the Area Sales Leader, Team Member Care, and Human Resources regarding promotional opportunities, transfer requests, hiring, performance management, and termination decisions for assigned staff.
  • Organizes and schedules cross-training opportunities for team members.
  • Leads team meetings to communicate policies, procedures, products, services, goals, and other essential information.
  • Creates an environment that encourages open, honest, and transparent communication.
  • Responsible for implementing and acting on feedback collected from team member surveys.

Branch Operations

  • Acts as a steward of all controllable expenses entrusted to the role.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Works closely with the Head Teller and Assistant Sales Manager (if applicable) to ensure adherence to all policies and procedures.
  • Oversees daily operations of the Sales Office.
  • Reviews safe deposit box contracts and ensures the accuracy of records.
  • Manages and supports account opening and maintenance processes.
  • Ensures the facility meets visual standards.
  • Assists in training and developing new Sales Managers by serving as a Field Coach.

Lending and Support for Sales Officers

  • The Sales Operations Manager may approve consumer loans within their authority.
  • Effectively communicates Bank Independent's capabilities to customers once opportunities are identified.
  • Supports Sales Officers by processing new loan applications and renewals through the bank's loan management systems, ensuring timely progression through all stages and successful closing of loans.
  • Collaborates with Sales Officers, Credit Administration, and Loan Processing/Operations to meet loan deadlines.
  • Collects and uploads necessary financial documentation.
  • Participates in Credit Round Table discussions to strategically assess the strengths and weaknesses of the loan portfolio, managing it within the bank's risk tolerance.
  • Resolves technical exceptions as needed.
  • Partners with Sales Officers to achieve and exceed sales and service goals, as well as deposit and loan growth targets.

Compliance

  • Ensures adherence to all regulatory requirements, bank policies, and procedures while servicing new and existing customer accounts.
  • Addresses deposit and loan technical exceptions in a timely manner.
  • Complies with all security protocols.
  • Completes all required training assignments promptly.

Working Conditions

  • Generally favorable with minimal exposure to noise, extreme temperatures, dust, or other adverse conditions.
  • Requires considerable effort and attention to detail to verify the accuracy of all work produced.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in the financial services industry or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of four years' experience as a Sales Manager or in direct leadership within banking is required.
  • Completion of BIU is required for internal candidates.
  • Previous experience managing team members in a loan office is preferred.
  • Experience as a Teller and Relationship Banker is preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated success in coaching, mentoring, developing, and managing team members.
  • Thorough understanding of bank policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the bank's products, services, and processes.
  • Able to accomplish multiple objectives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in bank-specific software and basic office equipment; willing to embrace technology.
  • Ability to develop consumer and commercial relationships and cross-sell additional products and services to meet customer needs.
  • Advanced knowledge of consumer loans and basic knowledge of commercial loans is required.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, time management, and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and TEAMS.
