COMPENSATION: $14 per hour

OVERVIEW:

  • This role is designed for individuals prior to completing their training, and does not involve any direct patient care responsibilities.
  • The position is part of the Nurse Aide Training Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP).
  • Upon successful completion of the nurse aide classes and required clinical experience, the individual will be recognized as a Nurse Aide in Training (NAT).
  • Individuals in this role may not serve as nurse aides for more than four months. They must pass the licensure examination to transition to a State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) within this timeframe. Failure to pass the licensure exam may result in termination or reassignment to a non-nursing role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Respond to call lights promptly.
  2. Provide hydration support by passing ice and water to patients between meals and assisting with hydration carts and evening snack distribution.
  3. Support patient comfort by assisting with bed-making tasks.
  4. Contribute to laundry-related duties:
  • Organize and store patients' clean personal laundry.
  • Maintain clean linen closets following infection control protocols.
  • Assist in cleaning and organizing patient drawers under supervision.
  • Dispose of soiled utility containers in designated trash areas.
  1. Label personal items (e.g., toothbrushes, denture cups) to prevent cross-contamination.
  2. Prepare dining areas by setting tables with linens and utensils for meal service.
  3. Note: Meal Service team members are not authorized to feed patients.
  • Deliver trays and beverages to residents in the dining area.
  • Transport room trays to patients' rooms.
  1. Engage in one-on-one companionship visits with patients.
  2. Complete any non-direct care tasks as assigned by nursing staff or unit management.
  3. Assist with activities when no other nursing-related tasks are required.
