Position Summary

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, a distinguished institution known for its legacy in medical education and innovative healthcare solutions, is seeking a qualified Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to deliver comprehensive primary care services to a diverse patient population at a bustling family practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough history and physical examinations for patients with complex, acute, critical, and chronic health issues.
  • Utilize various diagnostic techniques to assess and diagnose medical conditions effectively.
  • Order and interpret a range of diagnostic and therapeutic tests to inform treatment decisions.
  • Prescribe both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment options tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment interventions.
  • Maintain precise and comprehensive medical records in accordance with healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care and make referrals as necessary.
  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding medical conditions and treatment plans.
  • Facilitate informed decision-making among staff, patients, and families using evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in the training and education of nurse practitioner or physician assistant students, as well as medical students.
  • Perform additional duties as required by departmental needs.

Qualifications

For Nurse Practitioners:

Education:

A master's degree in nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.

Experience:

A minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience is required.

Certifications:

Must possess a current and valid RN license to practice in Ohio with prescriptive authority prior to commencement of employment.

For Physician Assistants:

Education:

Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program recognized by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).

Experience:

At least one year of experience as a Physician Assistant is required.

Certifications:

  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Must hold a current and valid PA license to practice in Ohio.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and talking.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching overhead.
  • Regular use of repetitive hand motions, such as typing.
