Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Camden Clark Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing and analyzing clinical laboratory tests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and analyze samples in a timely and orderly fashion, meeting usual and customary levels of productivity.
  • Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments according to policies and procedures.
  • Take appropriate action for quality control in all technical areas and follow infection control procedures.
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures on patients as needed.
  • Complete forms and reports findings to nurses and/or physicians.
  • Interact with other healthcare workers to solve problems and interpret patient lab results.
  • Perform routine and basic laboratory testing within a designated area in the clinical laboratory.
  • Recognize testing inconsistency and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Maintain all patient and specimen records accurately, neatly, and legibly.
  • Follow hospital, state, and federal guidelines for ensuring a safe environment for workers, patients, and public.
Requirements
  • Associate of Science (AAS) degree in Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Technology or Science, or an Associate degree in a physical, chemical or biological science with one year of clinical lab training/experience.
  • WV Licensure as a Laboratory Technician (MLT) within 90 days of hire.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) is preferred.
  • Experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician is preferred.
Working Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and requires strong communication and teamwork skills. The successful candidate will be able to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and other healthcare workers.

The physical demands of this job require strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying of materials and equipment. The work environment may involve exposure to agents which may cause serious disease.
