Position Overview:

Compensation starting at $140,000 annually.

The Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor is a licensed expert responsible for the strategic planning, organization, direction, and delivery of safe and effective pharmacy services to Option Care patients, adhering to company policies, current professional standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves coordinating patient services in collaboration with nursing, delivery, and reimbursement teams, as well as managing the budgeting, procurement, and security of all pharmaceutical products and medical supplies. The Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor also plays a crucial role in assisting the Operations Director in achieving operational and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient eligibility for home care services. Supervise, monitor, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care provided by pharmacy personnel. Manage daily operations to ensure effective communication and workflow.
  • Lead the pharmacy department's activities. Schedule staff work assignments to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of patients.
  • Develop and mentor pharmacy staff through onboarding, open communication, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee procurement, inventory management, budgeting, and equipment oversight. Assist in preparing and implementing departmental budgets while ensuring compliance with financial guidelines. Evaluate and manage the acquisition and security of all medications and medical supplies in line with company policies.
  • Support sales and management by providing accurate information about available services. Engage with managed care organizations and other stakeholders to educate them on service offerings.
  • May act as Office Administrator in collaboration with nursing leadership in the absence of the General Manager. Gather and organize patient-specific information to prevent and resolve medication-related issues.
  • Monitor clinical staff documentation on pharmacy care plans for home care patients based on evaluation data and relevant patient information.
  • Assess staff competency in pharmacokinetic principles and practices.
  • Ensure medications are prepared and dispensed according to established techniques and company policies. Verify that equipment is properly calibrated and medications are stored correctly.
  • Coordinate and participate in on-call pharmacy responsibilities, ensuring reliable coverage and service.
  • Manage investigational drug products in accordance with established regulations and company policies, ensuring compliance with all accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited pharmacy school.
  • Current, active Pharmacy license issued by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in a clean room or infusion pharmacy environment, or 3 years of experience with additional qualifications such as knowledge of non-sterile compounding or completion of an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Residency Program.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a managerial role, including hiring, developing, and directing staff.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in planning and managing departmental budgets or completion of an ASHP accredited Residency Program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in compounding sterile products and managing patient care.
  • Experience in overseeing purchasing and inventory processes for pharmaceuticals and related supplies.
  • Access to reliable transportation for home visits, including a valid driver's license and proof of insurance if using a personal vehicle.
  • Active membership in a relevant state or national clinical, pharmaceutical, or home health care organization.
  • Experience in identifying operational challenges and implementing effective solutions.
  • Proven customer service skills, including meeting quality standards and evaluating customer satisfaction.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes.
