Mental Health Crisis Intervention Specialist

As a Crisis Services Coordinator with the Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton, & Ingham Co, you will play a vital role in providing crisis intervention services to individuals in need. Under the supervision of the Crisis Services Coordinator, you will interview individuals who may require crisis intervention and/or voluntary or involuntary admission to a local or state hospital.
You will provide consultation services to local area hospitals and emergency physicians, ensuring that individuals receive the necessary support and care. Your responsibilities will also include carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in a manner that fulfills the organization's mission, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need a Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. You must also possess an appropriate State of Michigan credential, such as an LMSW, LLMSW, LLPC, LPC, LLP, or FLP, or be able to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
A minimum of one year of experience working with persons with mental illness is required, either professionally or as a paraprofessional. You will also need to have completed an academic year of graduate practicum/internship experience working with persons with mental illness.
Preferred qualifications include experience in clinical diagnostic assessment and evaluation, crisis intervention, brief counseling, and determining hospital eligibility. You must also be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and have proficiency in Microsoft Word and solid computer skills.
Conditional Employment:
Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure, which includes a Michigan State Police clearance check, Central Registry Screening, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of an acceptable driving record, educational background check, and verification of an acceptable work history.
You must also be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Salary/Hours:
This is a relief position, and you will be required to work various day, evening, weekend, and CMHA-CEI observed holiday shifts. The hourly rate is $31.17, and you will work 0-19 hours per week, with hours not guaranteed.
