We are seeking a skilled Genomics Specialist in Transcriptomics to provide expertise and support to a leading research institution. This role is a full-time position with a focus on computational biology and bioinformatics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and enhance innovative computational biology algorithms to analyze and visualize complex scientific data.
  • Engage in scientific collaborations with researchers, potentially leading to authorships in scientific publications.
  • Collect detailed requirements from stakeholders to identify existing tools or develop new algorithms for data analysis.
  • Document and manage the training and support provided to researchers.
  • Offer on-site assistance and troubleshooting for computational biology software.
  • Create and deliver training materials to effectively communicate computational biology techniques to researchers.
  • Stay updated on the latest computational biology technologies and tools.
  • Collaborate with software developers to integrate genomic software solutions into enterprise systems.


Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of genomics and molecular biology, including techniques such as qPCR and next-generation sequencing.
  • Proven experience in analyzing large-scale transcriptomics data, including RNA-seq and scRNA-seq, and familiarity with various open-source software and pipelines.
  • Experience with genomic databases and their annotations.
  • Proficiency in UNIX/Linux environments and scripting languages.
  • Experience in high-performance computing environments.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis methods using R or Python.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts to non-specialists.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Experience with open-source bioinformatics applications.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent experience in computational biology or related fields.
  • Experience with genome assembly and annotation tools.
  • Familiarity with constructing analysis pipelines.
  • Knowledge of genomic data management challenges.
  • Background in molecular biology or related disciplines.
  • Experience with various genomic sequencing data analyses.
