Pharmacy Technician Specialist

Job Description

As a Pharmacy Technician Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing and dispensing medications to patients in a long-term care pharmacy setting. You will work closely with nursing staff to ensure accurate dosing and fill prescriptions for a facility that services 1000 beds. Your responsibilities will include labeling prescriptions, following pharmacy policies and procedures, and working in either the daily fill or cycle fill departments.

Daily fill involves preparing prescriptions for immediate shipment, while cycle fill involves preparing blister cards and bottles of medications that will last for 30+ days for patients.


Responsibilities:

• Fill and compound medications, including ointments
• Communicate with nursing staff to confirm dosages and fill prescriptions
• Label prescriptions and follow pharmacy policies and procedures
• Work in either the daily fill or cycle fill departments

Requirements:

• Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT)
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in a production environment
• Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
