Job Description

Job Summary

Bristol General Contractors, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Superintendent to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all day-to-day site construction activities and supervising all field personnel to ensure successful project completion on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of projects on schedule, within budget, and with quality workmanship that conforms to Contract requirements, plans, and specifications.
  • Build and maintain construction schedules with the assistance and support of Bristol's designated project scheduler (Primavera P6 operator).
  • Order materials and schedule inspections as necessary throughout construction.
  • Read and understand project plans and specifications.
  • Act as technical professional for the estimating team.
  • Lead the project team in planning and execution of project work plans and other project submittals and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other employees.
  • Promote job site safety, encourages safe work practices, and rectifies job site hazards immediately.
  • Ensure all company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy.
  • Maintain an organized and clean job site, including the construction office.
  • Coordinate with designated Quality Control and Health and Safety representatives to ensure Bristol and project standards are met.
  • Minimize company exposure and project performance risks.
  • Supervise subcontractor and vendor procurement, material buyout and logistics coordination, preparation of subcontract scoping documents and consent packages, and subcontractor selection following applicable FAR and project requirements as needed.
  • Prepare field reports, quantity tracking, applications for payment, and other project reporting documents as needed.
  • Perform constructability reviews on project designs; works with design teams when applicable to find value engineering opportunities.
  • Collaborate with others to generate project schedules as required.
  • Travel as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate or bachelor's Degree may be required, dependent on project requirements.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Superintendent on Federal Projects USACE and or NAVFAC in construction practices, procedures, and testing.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience of DoD construction projects.
  • Compliance with EM 385-1-1. Documented EM 385-1-1 safety experience on DoD projects and demonstrated expertise in hazard identification and safety compliance.
  • Direct experience with and established relations with Federal clients.
  • Experience supervising all aspects of construction projects for various types of clients and project delivery methods.
  • Current OSHA 30 Construction Industry Training certification is required.
  • Experience with projects in ranging from $1MM to $30MM is required.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English language.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

  • Mobility: Must be able to stoop, kneel, reach, walk, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Hearing: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
  • Visual Acuity: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
  • Lifting: Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions and variety of physical conditions – proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electric current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
