Shipping Superintendent

OK Foods, a leading chicken producer, is seeking a highly skilled Shipping Superintendent to join our team in Fort Smith, AR. As a key member of our Supply Chain team, you will be responsible for overseeing all departmental functions, including purchasing, receiving, storing, and issuing of packaging materials.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide leadership and direction in purchasing, receiving, and issuing of packaging materials.
- Ensure timely and accurate orders of all needed materials, including ingredients, packaging, and other supplies.
- Forecasting and figuring needs, creating purchase orders, and performing intercompany transfers.
- Purchase order processing from vendors for all items except ingredients.
- Responsible for packaging, operating supplies, utensils, bins, and other receptacles.
- Shipping and receiving policies and procedures for incoming materials and finished goods.
- Monitoring production schedule vs. on-hand inventory to ship unneeded goods.
- Manages FIFO functions pertaining to materials for production.
- Responsible for food safety requirements, allergen compliance, accuracy, and documentation.
- Cycle count selection of materials to ensure accuracy of items and locations.
- Responsible for the documentation, tracking, and adjusting damaged materials.
- Works closely with quality administration regarding tractability for all goods.
- Chemical inventory, ordering, tracking usage, and monitoring actual usage vs. spec requirements.
- Responsible for reporting of deviations of usage and corrections made.
- Works closely with purchasing and process control personnel on deficiency of figures.
- Responsible for reporting of operating supplies used, chemicals used, and all other materials used for a given date/week/month.
- Directly supervising frozen finished goods shipping and receiving dock/frozen storage location.
- Managing inventory of products on hold, test inventory, rework, and coordinating finished product returns from distribution points.
- Responsible for weekly finished good inventory to maintain SOX compliance.
- Manages supervisors, leads, and hourly employees in various locations in the plant.
- Tracks and acts on usage opportunities.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Training, coaching, identifying needs of individuals to perform to an optimum level.
- Taking ownership of areas, performance, holding personnel accountable, and communicating obstacles with other members of the management team.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
- 3-5 years related experience and/or training.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, or employees of the organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Knowledge of Accounting software.
- Payroll systems.
- Spreadsheet software.
- Word Processing software.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
