Role Summary:
- This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Security Services Department at Highland-Clarksburg Hospital. The primary duty is to uphold a secure and safe atmosphere for all individuals on the premises as well as for the property itself. This position collaborates with various departments to address security-related incidents and concerns, reporting directly to the Security Manager.
- Engages in positive customer service interactions, offering necessary assistance to patients, visitors, and staff to ensure orderly access to hospital facilities in line with established policies.
- Maintains a visible presence at designated locations, responding to inquiries and requests for assistance from patients, visitors, and staff with care and courtesy.
- Provides physical support to staff as required to maintain a secure environment.
- Oversees traffic flow in parking areas and roadways, assisting disabled vehicles, issuing parking permits, and addressing violations.
- Safeguards individuals and property by helping to prevent accidents, theft, and vandalism, adhering to hospital policies.
- Conducts routine patrols of the building, unlocks doors, and monitors the exterior and parking lot to ensure safety.
- Offers recommendations to enhance security measures and prevent incidents.
- Documents suspicious activities, incidents, and individuals according to established protocols.
- Assists patients, visitors, and staff during emergencies, including assaults, disputes, fires, thefts, and other crises.
- Monitors video security feeds attentively to identify and address safety concerns, reporting findings to supervisors as per protocols.
- Expected duties include incident reporting, routine patrols, emergency response, parking enforcement, and maintaining a consistent presence.

- Educational Background:
- High school diploma, GED, or relevant work experience demonstrating capability in the role.
- May need to obtain a GED within six months of employment; an associate degree or relevant coursework is preferred.
- Experience:
- Prior experience in security or training is preferred, especially in healthcare settings.
- Language Proficiency:
- Ability to address practical problems and manage various variables. Capable of interpreting written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions, including facility layouts. Proficient in writing reports and communicating effectively with patients, families, and staff.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to function effectively in high-pressure situations. Strong decision-making skills. Proficient in organizing and maintaining documentation. Must demonstrate teamwork and a caring attitude. Ability to maintain confidentiality and produce accurate records. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Reasoning Skills:
- Ability to tackle practical problems and manage diverse variables. Capable of interpreting various forms of instructions.
The physical demands of this role require the employee to communicate effectively, utilize hands for handling objects, and frequently stand or walk. Occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds may be necessary. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Qualifications:
