This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of organization, communication, and critical thinking skills. As a Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the transplant process, from initial consultation to admission or outpatient transplant.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the scheduling of inpatient admissions and outpatient visits, including indicated tests and consultations.
- Verify third-party payment and pre-transplant benefits, and assist families in seeking alternative sources of funding.
- Coordinate the pre-payment of fees to initiate the donor search.
- Monitor and coordinate patient/family needs before, during, and after the transplant process.
- Communicate clinical and non-clinical patient information during BMT conferences.
- Coordinate with donor centers regarding the shipment, transport, and delivery of the marrow.
- Advises the patient and referring physician concerning optimal donor search strategy.
- Reviews search results returned by each registry and/or lab, and presents search results to the BMT attending or referring physician.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalency.
- One year of healthcare experience.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah.
- Experience with third-party payers.
- Experience in bone marrow transplant program or hematology/oncology.
This position involves light work that may exert up to 20 pounds and may consistently require light work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects involving patient care or medical equipment.
