Job Summary

Aircraft Worker is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and inspecting aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment under the technical direction of an Aircraft Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic (Senior) or Lead. This role requires the ability to remove and install aircraft components, conduct functional tests of repaired components and systems, and perform crash recovery duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain aircraft structures, systems, and components
  • Inspect and identify aircraft corrosion for prevention and repair
  • Conduct functional tests of repaired components and systems
  • Remove and install aircraft components
  • Perform crash recovery duties
  • Work under the technical direction of an Aircraft Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic (Senior) or Lead

Requirements

  • Qualification as Aircraft Worker is mandatory
  • A minimum of three years of performing functions, such as installing, inspecting, repairing or overhauling aircraft structures, systems, and components, is mandatory
  • Knowledge of the principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications of maintenance directives and data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory
  • Knowledge of Air Force supply and deficiency reporting procedures and the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory
  • Knowledge of MIS (CAMS/IMDS) and desktop computer operations and use is mandatory

Special Certifications and Qualifications

  • Remove/install/inspect waveguides, head-up-display (HUD), Band2/3 LRU's embedded global positioning and inertial navigation system (INS)
  • Remove/install modules, chassis on APG-63(V-1)-(V-3) & APG-70 load/verify program
  • Joint helmet mounted cueing system (JHMCS) perform (BIT) checkout/mapping
  • Engine instruments isolates malfunctions on tachometer, fan turbine inlet temperature (FTIT), fuel flow, nozzle position, pitot static/heater/pneumatic instrument systems
  • Perform built in test (BIT), repair cable and coaxial, understand electronic sensitive device (ESD), utilize data transfer equipment, overload warning system (OWS) perform operational checkout with/without adapter cable, load software, identification friend or foe (IFF), remove/install antenna on instrument landing system (ILS), and remove/install fighter data link (FDL) receiver/transmitter
