Position Overview:
As a vital member of MITRE's Systems Engineering division, you will engage collaboratively with mission experts, engineers, and government representatives to address complex systems engineering challenges that are crucial to national security.

Key Responsibilities:
Your role will involve:

  • Developing and evaluating sophisticated system architectures utilizing industry-standard languages such as SysML/UML.
  • Assessing and contrasting alternative architectures through both qualitative and quantitative methods, providing essential insights for informed decision-making.
  • Identifying and articulating significant uncertainties within system architectures, along with associated risks and opportunities, and formulating strategies to mitigate and leverage them.
  • Supporting requirements management, interface management, and architecture change management processes to ensure alignment with evolving mission objectives.
  • Collaborating closely with government sponsors and internal teams to pinpoint critical engineering challenges and devise effective solutions.
  • Applying systems engineering principles to facilitate evidence-based decision-making by sponsors, ensuring the delivery of high-value capabilities.
  • Encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing across the organization, utilizing diverse perspectives and solutions to tackle sponsor challenges.
  • Communicating complex technical analyses and recommendations clearly and concisely through both written and verbal channels to sponsors and partners.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates typically possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or a PhD with applicable experience.
  • A solid grasp of systems engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in technical areas pertinent to the role, including model-based systems engineering (MBSE), digital engineering, and system-of-systems architecture.
  • Familiarity with tools and methodologies commonly utilized in systems engineering, such as SysML/UML, Cameo, MagicDraw, and Rhapsody.
  • Experience engaging with various levels of government and military leadership.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying intricate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • An active DOD Secret clearance with eligibility for Top Secret.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidates may have:

  • A Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience in systems engineering principles, tools, and methodologies, particularly in defense or national security applications; or a Master's degree with 6 years of experience.
  • A proven history of involvement in projects related to defense, homeland security, or aerospace for one or more government agencies.
  • An interdisciplinary background demonstrating continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies and concepts.
