Position Overview:
As a vital contributor to MITRE's Systems Engineering team, you will engage closely with mission specialists, engineers, and government representatives to address the complex challenges inherent in systems engineering that are crucial to national security.

Key Responsibilities:
Your role will involve:

  • Developing and evaluating sophisticated system architectures utilizing industry-standard languages such as SysML/UML.
  • Assessing and contrasting various architectures through qualitative and quantitative methods, providing critical insights to guide decision-making.
  • Identifying and articulating significant uncertainties within system architectures, along with associated risks and opportunities, and formulating strategies to mitigate and leverage them.
  • Supporting requirements management, interface management, and architecture change management processes to ensure alignment with evolving mission objectives.
  • Collaborating closely with government sponsors and internal teams to pinpoint essential engineering challenges and devise effective solutions.
  • Applying systems engineering principles to facilitate evidence-based decision-making by sponsors, ensuring the delivery of high-value capabilities.
  • Encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing across the organization, harnessing diverse perspectives and solutions to tackle sponsor challenges.
  • Communicating complex technical analyses and recommendations clearly and concisely through written and verbal channels to sponsors and partners.

Program Highlights:
During this structured program, you will refine your skills and cultivate robust professional networks within the national security sector and across our Innovation Centers, contributing to the resolution of critical national challenges.

Qualifications:
Typically, a Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline, accompanied by a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or a PhD with applicable experience. A solid understanding of systems engineering principles and practices is essential.

Demonstrated proficiency in technical areas pertinent to the specific role, such as model-based systems engineering (MBSE), digital engineering, and system-of-systems architecture is required. Knowledge of tools and methodologies commonly utilized in systems engineering, including SysML/UML, Cameo, MagicDraw, and Rhapsody, is also important.

Experience engaging with various levels of government and military leadership, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills, is necessary to convey complex technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced expertise in systems engineering, particularly in areas such as system architecture design and analysis, model-based systems engineering principles, and systems integration testing, is highly desirable.
