Position Overview

The University of Michigan is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Professional (APP) specializing in Oculoplastic Surgery. This role is integral to our mission of enhancing lives through the prevention, treatment, and management of eye-related conditions.

Key Responsibilities

As an APP in our Oculoplastic Surgery team, you will:

1. Conduct thorough evaluations and assessments of both adult and pediatric patients with oculoplastic needs, including those with traumatic, oncologic, and congenital conditions.
2. Provide surgical assistance during ophthalmic procedures and manage perioperative care.
3. Oversee post-operative care and coordinate long-term management for chronic patients in collaboration with supervising surgeons.
4. Perform clinic procedures with a focus on manual dexterity and precision.
5. Educate patients and families on pre-operative procedures and review surgical consents.
6. Identify, prescribe, and monitor appropriate pharmacological treatments.
7. Document patient care in accordance with institutional standards, ensuring accurate billing codes are applied.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
- Relevant specialty certification in their respective fields.
- A strong background in ophthalmology or oculoplastic surgery is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
