POSITION OVERVIEW


The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of automation and control systems tailored for manufacturing operations, quality assessments, and material logistics.

This role will involve identifying, justifying, and coordinating the creation and enhancement of new processes, systems, and equipment, both automated and manual.

As a subject matter expert in automation and robotics, this position plays a critical role in advancing operational efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Design, develop, and deploy automation and robotic systems to enhance manufacturing operations, including fabrication, coating, assembly, and material logistics.

This includes capital planning, project management, and collaboration with external partners and vendors to ensure successful project execution.


Develop both automated and manual quality inspection and error-proofing processes by analyzing product specifications, researching, designing, modifying, and testing inspection and validation techniques and equipment.

Create comprehensive project plans and effectively communicate requirements to key stakeholders.

Enhance manufacturing productivity by evaluating and planning workflow space requirements and equipment arrangements.

Depending on project scope, this role may lead engineers or technicians as part of the project execution strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering/technology field is required.

5+ years of relevant experience in automation design, integration, and manufacturing systems is essential.

Experience with CNC, PLC, robotic programming, and SQL is required.

Proficiency in 2D and/or 3D CAD software (preferably AutoCAD & SolidWorks) is necessary.

Experience with ERP or manufacturing software is preferred.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

Strong project management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.


Ability to address practical problems and manage a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.

Advanced knowledge of electrical schematic designs and control systems.

Strong understanding of equipment safety standards and code requirements (i.e., NEC, ANSI, and OSHA standards).

Travel

Occasional travel up to 25% may be necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead:
This role involves coordinating, supporting, training, and serving as a knowledge resource for team members. There are no direct reports or supervisory responsibilities.
