Job Summary

The Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio State Highway Patrol is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Highway Patrol Lateral Cadet. This is an exciting opportunity for a law enforcement professional to advance their career and join a team dedicated to serving and protecting the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reside at the Ohio State Highway Patrol academy and participate in intensive training and development programs
  • Develop and maintain a high level of physical fitness and meet the requirements of the Cooper Standards
  • Apply knowledge and skills in law enforcement to effectively serve and protect the public
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives
Requirements
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be between the ages of 20 and 39
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have 2 years or 4160-hour equivalent law enforcement experience in the preceding 2 years with an Ohio agency, or 1 year or 2080-hour equivalent law enforcement experience with an Ohio agency and successful completion of an Ohio peace officer basic training program at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy
  • Have a current OPOTA certificate
  • Hold a valid driver's license
