Job Overview

This position is essential for ensuring the effective management of vehicle maintenance operations.


The primary objective of this role is to supervise maintenance activities for a diverse fleet of vehicles, including Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, diesel, gas, hybrid, and battery electric vehicles. This involves addressing complex and unexpected challenges that may arise across various departments, while providing strong leadership and guidance to maintenance personnel.


Key Responsibilities
  • Departmental Leadership: Oversee the administration of the maintenance department by managing staff, assigning shift duties, and monitoring performance. Develop and maintain the departmental budget, analyze expenditures, and formulate capital project plans.
  • Maintenance Oversight: Collaborate with team members to identify mechanical issues, coordinate repair schedules, and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Attend and contribute to meetings with various departments and agencies to ensure alignment on maintenance objectives.
  • Procurement Management: Participate in the development of specifications for new vehicle acquisitions, ensuring technical requirements are met.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and skills for this role.


Education: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, or a related discipline.


Experience: At least seven (7) years of relevant experience in public transportation, including four (4) years in a bus maintenance setting and three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.


Certification & Requirements: A valid driver's license is mandatory, with the ability to obtain and maintain a California Class C driver's license.
