Job Summary and Qualifications
As the Pharmacy Clinical Manager, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing pharmacy clinical programs. This includes formulary management, policy and procedure development, and education across the healthcare spectrum. You will also assist in managing the pharmacy in the absence of the Pharmacy Director or designee.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately interpret orders and transcribe or verify them into the pharmacy computer system.
- Compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals with precision.
- Monitoring drug therapy regimens for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dosage.
- Sustaining the hospital formulary while minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges, and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
- Identifying, designing, and analyzing drug utilization reviews to promote rational drug therapy and developing action plans based on results.
- Developing, managing, and mentoring pharmacy clinical programs such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing, and other initiatives.
- Overseeing the antimicrobial management program (AMP).- Managing and monitoring the drug formulary.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring pharmacy clinical initiatives while sharing pharmacy operation responsibilities with the Pharmacy Operation Manager.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy is required.
- Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year as a Pharmacy Clinical/Operations Specialist required.
- 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience, preferably within the area of focus required.
- Completion of a hospital PGY2/pharmacy specialty residency or fellowship preferred.
- Specialty BCPS certification is preferred.
- Other certifications (e.g., FCCP, FASHP) are also preferred.
- Hospital Pharmacy Management experience preferred.
- Experience performing basic mathematical calculations and reconciling figures is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Meditech, Business Objects, and purchasing vendor applications is required.
- ACLS certification preferred.
- Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy is required.
- Active Pharmacy Consultant license, or equivalent as per State requirements for a Pharmacy is required.
