About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacy Manager to join our team at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant. As a Clinical Pharmacy Manager, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing pharmacy clinical programs, including formulary management, policy and procedure development, and education across the healthcare spectrum.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospital pharmacy management, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role. You will be responsible for interpreting orders, transcribing or verifying them accurately and efficiently into the pharmacy computer system, and accurately compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals.

You will also be responsible for monitoring drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose. Additionally, you will provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners, suggest appropriate and cost-effective therapeutic alternatives, and sustain the hospital formulary.

The Clinical Pharmacy Manager will also support participation in daily multidisciplinary and bedside rounds, identify, design, and analyze drug utilization reviews, and develop, manage, and mentor pharmacy clinical programs such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing, and other programs as determined appropriate based on patient population and literature guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage pharmacy clinical programs
  • Interpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately and efficiently into the pharmacy computer system
  • Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose
  • Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners
  • Sustain the hospital formulary
  • Support participation in daily multidisciplinary and bedside rounds
  • Identify, design, and analyze drug utilization reviews
  • Develop, manage, and mentor pharmacy clinical programs
Requirements
  • B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Minimum of 1 year as a Pharmacy Clinical/Operations Specialist
  • At least 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience required; preferably within area of focus
  • Completion of hospital PGY2/pharmacy specialty residency or fellowship
  • Specialty BCPS certification
  • Other certification (e.g. FCCP, FASHP)
  • Hospital Pharmacy Management experience
