Crisis Mental Health Technician Job Description

This position offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of individuals in mental health crisis. As a Crisis Mental Health Technician, you will be part of a dynamic team providing 24/7 care and support to adults in crisis at our state-of-the-art facility in Manhattan, KS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Gather information about clients via phone or face-to-face and refer them to the appropriate resource to handle the problem.
  • Provide support to other providers and community entities dealing with adults or children in crisis.
  • Make follow-up calls to consumers who fail to show for post-crisis follow-up appointments or who may need extra contact to effectively cope with a current crisis.
  • Assist in coordinating access to the appropriate level of care after a QMHP has completed an evaluation.
  • Collaborate with other team members and outside providers in the coordination of appropriate services.
  • Maintain the inner workings of the Crisis Stabilization Center, including general care and support of consumers, daily operations, and housekeeping of the unit.
  • Support other staff members as needed, which may be outside of typical job duties.
  • Provide individual, group, and family services with consumers.
  • Assess, make decisions, and provide de-escalating skills in intense situations.
  • Carry out all job duties with minimal supervision.
  • Complete annual health screening requirements.
  • Be certified in Basic CPR, First Aid, and CPI.
Requirements:
  • Meet and comply with expected administrative and clinical documentation requirements.
  • Meet direct service expectations and comply with other established productivity standards.
  • Attend and actively participate in clinical supervision and program staffing.
  • Provide input to supervisors and other treatment team members regarding clinical and program issues.
  • Coordinate services between agencies on behalf of the client.
