POSITION SUMMARY

The Mental Health Screener is a critical role within our organization, responsible for administering, planning, and coordinating mental health crisis intervention services to a diverse client population. This position requires a high level of professionalism, empathy, and effective communication skills to stabilize the client's behavior and provide a safe and supportive environment.

The Screener will work closely with the care team to develop and implement individualized plans, providing mental health evaluation and assessment data to determine the most appropriate course of action. This may involve referrals to inpatient facilities or other agencies, as well as providing outreach services as required.

The Mental Health Screener will also be responsible for developing and conducting training and education programs to satisfy regulatory requirements, as well as delivering care in a prompt and professional manner, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, with a minimum of three years of experience in mental health, including a crisis setting. A valid NJ Driver's License is also required.

CERTIFICATION:

Eligibility to attend the NJ Basic Screening Certification course for Mental Health Screeners is required within one year of hire or transfer. CPI certification is also required within six months of hire or transfer.


EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must be insurable by AtlantiCare's auto insurance carrier. Crisis Prevention Intervention annual education is preferred, as is proficiency in Clinical Applications at the time of hire. Incumbents will be trained appropriately and then required to demonstrate this skill within 30-60 days of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The Mental Health Screener must demonstrate the ability to conduct and administer outreach services to serve a diverse client population with multiple developmental needs. This includes the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires considerable standing, reaching, and walking, as well as the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. The Screener will also be exposed to the hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
