At Optum, we strive to deliver care and technology to help millions of people live healthier lives. As a Senior HIM Data Integrity Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of Protected Health Information within our Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a critical thinking approach. You will work closely with the HIM Manager and Director to execute patient account integrity deliverables in a timely and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform chart corrections, patient account merges, and overlay resolution within the EHR system
  • Regularly maintain patients' records to ensure compliance with various laws and government standards
  • Analyze data for errors and work to resolve them, escalating appropriately when necessary
  • Perform root cause analysis on data discrepancies, working with HIM management to rectify identified issues

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 3+ years of experience with Health Information Systems/Electronic Health Record Systems
  • 2+ years of HIM data/chart analysis or identity management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Associate Degree in Health Information Management or a related field
  • Certified Registered Health Information Administrator or Technician (i.e. RHIA or RHIT)
  • Knowledgeable of HIPAA guidelines and applicable laws, and able to maintain strict patient confidentiality

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Detail-oriented, critical thinker, and quality-focused
