Aircraft Structural Mechanic Job Description

Vertex Aerospace LLC is seeking a skilled Aircraft Structural Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing modifications, removal, replacement, and re-installation actions on aircraft structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural repair and replacement procedures, including fastener and material type selection.
  • Develop and design metal, plastic, phenolic, and fiberglass part fabrication procedures and templates.
  • Assist in preparing P&E reports and maintain required records and maintenance forms.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance as required.
  • Perform aircraft inventory, acceptance, and transfer inspections.
  • Conduct engine, flight control, and landing gear rigging.
  • Determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Remove and replace aircraft engines using appropriate support equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Heavy Structural Mechanic, including composite work.
  • Satisfactory completion of U.S. Navy aircraft structural repair AMS A or B school or equivalent aircraft structural repair courses preferred.
  • FAA Airframe license desired but not required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CAC and required DOD clearance.
  • Valid state driver's license.

Work Environment:

The Aircraft Structural Mechanic will work in a shop environment, performing tasks that require physical movement and postures normally associated with shop activities. May be required to work in areas with high noise hazards, electrical shock hazards, and exposure to fumes or airborne particles.

  • Formal or Specialized Training/Equivalent.
  • Hazardous Waste Communications Training.
  • FOD and TCP Awareness Trained.
  • Security Clearance Awareness Training.
  • OPNAV INST Program Awareness.
  • ISO Program Awareness.
  • OIMA/NALCOMIS System.
  • Valid State Drivers License.
  • FAA Airframes & Power Plants (A&P) desired.
  • Support Equipment Operators License.
  • ESD Awareness Trained.
  • Hydraulic Contamination Trained.
  • Brake Rider Certified.
  • Tire and Wheel Certification.
  • Aircraft Towing Certification.
  • Collateral Duty Inspector.
  • Egress System Checkout.
  • Plane Captain Certified.
  • Fuel Surveillance Trained.
  • Close Hole Tolerance Trained.
  • Composite Repair Certified.
  • Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
  • Respirator Trained and Fitted.
