Role Summary:
The Medication Administration Specialist (QMAP) is responsible for the safe administration of oral and topical medications to residents, under the guidance of a registered nurse or licensed practical/vocational nurse.
Core Responsibilities:
- Prepare and administer medications in accordance with established protocols.
- Confirm the identity of the resident receiving medication and accurately document the medication name, dosage, and administration time.
- Address any discrepancies in medication orders by consulting with the appropriate licensed healthcare provider and inform the supervisor if a medication is not administered.
- Monitor and record vital signs as necessary during medication administration.
- Manage medication orders and returns in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Ensure the medication room and cart are maintained in a clean and organized manner, safeguarding resident access to prescribed medications only.
- Complete all required documentation in line with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, or experience as mandated by state regulations.
- Successful completion of a state-approved training program and authorization to administer oral and topical medications.
