Role Summary:
Assist in delivering nursing and medical support to patients within the Emergency Services. Responsibilities include providing fundamental patient care, monitoring and documenting vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and fluid intake-output. Administer oxygen therapy, establish intravenous access, perform phlebotomy, urinary catheterization, gastric lavage, and suctioning as directed by the attending physician or registered nurse. Support fracture management, cast or splint application, and operate EKG machines to assist in patient evaluations. Ensure patient safety and well-being through vigilant observation and communication of findings to the Charge Nurse or designated personnel. Aid patients with daily living activities, including meals, mobility, hygiene, linen changes, and toileting as instructed. Report any compliance or equipment concerns to the department leadership. Uphold adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care responsibilities may encompass neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

* TRANSPORT - Safely transport patients and handle specimens, equipment, and materials
* PATIENT CARE - Assist healthcare staff in complex treatment procedures and perform routine care
* PATIENT CARE - Conduct basic patient care tasks and document vital signs
* TESTING - Gather test information and submit results for physician review
* PATIENT CARE - Support daily living activities as directed
* PATIENT TRANSPORT - Facilitate patient movement using appropriate transport devices
* EQUIPMENT - Maintain and stock medical equipment and supplies
* MISCELLANEOUS - Execute various job-related tasks as assigned
* DEVELOPMENT - Pursue professional growth through educational opportunities and workshops
* PATIENT CARE - Administer oxygen, monitor cardiac activity, and perform other procedures under supervision
* CLERK - Manage phone communications and operate computer systems
* EKG - Conduct EKG tests
* PATIENT CARE - Initiate or discontinue IV access as per established protocols
* SPLINT - Apply splints as directed
* TEAMWORK - Foster collaboration and support within the healthcare team
* EDUCATE - Provide patient education on medical topics within established guidelines
* SUPPORT - Assist with routine administrative functions in the unit
* PATIENT CARE - Facilitate direct patient care tasks and prepare for procedures
* COMPETENCIES - Complete required competencies specific to the department
* PATIENT CARE - Assist with the monitoring of patients in restraints
* PATIENT CARE - Support RN's during medical emergencies
* PATIENT CARE - Conduct continuous monitoring of high-risk patients under RN supervision
* POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - Maintain compliance with departmental and hospital standards
* TREATMENT - Execute routine non-invasive treatment procedures

Qualifications

Education:
Essential:
* High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
* Completion of a relevant training program (NA, MA, PCT, EMT-B, etc.)
