Role Summary:
Assist in delivering nursing and medical support to patients within the Emergency Department. Responsibilities include basic patient care, monitoring and recording vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and fluid intake-output metrics. Administer oxygen therapy, establish intravenous access, perform phlebotomy, urinary catheterization, gastric lavage, and suctioning as directed by the ED physician or RN. Aid in fracture management, including cast or splint application. Operate electrocardiographic (EKG) machines and provide assessments to the attending physician. Monitor patients to ensure their safety and report any observations to the Charge Nurse or designated personnel. Assist with daily living activities (ADL) such as meals, mobility, hygiene, linen changes, and toileting as instructed. Report any compliance or equipment issues to the department Director or Charge Nurse. Ensure compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignments may encompass neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
Key Responsibilities:
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Adhere to patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Proactively seek opportunities to enhance patient safety by questioning existing policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and rectify environmental conditions that may pose risks to patients
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Timely report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors, and near misses
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patient involvement in their care by prompting questions and addressing any concerns
* PATIENT OBSERVATION - Monitor patients to ensure their safety and well-being; communicate findings to the Charge Nurse or designated personnel
* TRANSPORT - Safely transport patients and manage the collection, labeling, and transportation of specimens and materials
* PATIENT CARE - Assist nursing staff and physicians in complex treatment procedures; perform routine care tasks
* PATIENT CARE - Conduct basic patient care activities, including vital sign monitoring
* TESTING - Gather test and patient information from requisition forms; relay test results to physicians
* PATIENT CARE - Support daily living activities as instructed
* PATIENT TRANSPORT - Facilitate patient transport using wheelchairs and hospital gurneys
* EQUIPMENT - Maintain medical equipment and stock supplies as needed
* MISCELLANEOUS - Perform other job-related duties as assigned
* DEVELOPMENT - Pursue professional growth through educational programs and workshops
* PATIENT CARE - Administer oxygen, monitor cardiac activity, obtain blood specimens, and catheterize patients under appropriate orders

* PATIENT CARE - Conduct continuous monitoring of high-risk patients under RN oversight
* POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - Uphold departmental and hospital policies and quality assurance programs
* TREATMENT - Execute routine non-invasive treatment procedures
