Job Summary

ExecuSource is seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our service delivery team, this individual will collaborate with configuration analysts, release engineers, developers, and operations teams to ensure high availability and optimal performance across mixed Linux and Windows environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Implementation
    • Assist in designing, planning, and implementing server solutions to meet business requirements.
    • Optimize and design systems infrastructure for peak performance, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Automation and Scripting
    • Automate manual tasks through scripting and application development, improving efficiency and reducing errors.
    • Investigate and adopt new technologies and tools as needed to stay ahead of industry trends.
  • Technical Support and Analysis
    • Provide support for production operations in a 24/7 environment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum uptime.
    • Evaluate, test, and integrate new operating system versions, drivers, and patches, ensuring compatibility and security.
    • Conduct technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Support and coordinate with developers, operations staff, release engineers, and end-users to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
    • Educate and mentor team members and operations staff on Linux systems, best practices, and industry trends.
Requirements
  • 5-10+ years of experience with Linux operating systems (preferably RedHat variants).
  • Proficient in coding with languages such as Python, Ruby, Bourne, PowerShell, and APIs.
  • Familiar with tools like git, subversion, foreman, katello, Jenkins, or similar.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of multi-tiered, highly available, and resilient application design.
  • Understanding of horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and stability.
  • Familiar with low-latency/high-frequency compute environments.
  • Knowledge of virtualization and experience with VMWare.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a service-oriented team environment.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Customer-focused and dedicated to providing the best possible user experience.
  • Effective communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering.
  • Intermediate understanding of application and server virtualization.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar container platforms.
  • Experience with automation and configuration management using Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Proficiency in network analysis using tools like tcpdump, Wireshark, or Tshark.
