POSITION OVERVIEW:

Senior System Administrator (Linux)/Network Administrator

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

HHS Technology Group is in search of a highly experienced and driven Senior System Administrator with a solid background in Linux, AWS, Kubernetes, virtualization, and networking. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing Kubernetes clusters and virtual machines, alongside the capability to lead and mentor a technical team. This role is vital for enhancing our deployment processes, improving system reliability, and influencing our infrastructure architecture.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee the design, deployment, and upkeep of Kubernetes clusters and virtual machines, ensuring optimal availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the DevOps team, promoting a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Work alongside software development teams to design, implement, and sustain CI/CD pipelines for streamlined software deployment and updates.
  • Manage networking setups and security measures within Kubernetes frameworks to guarantee effective communication and data flow.
  • Encourage the use of Agile methodologies, facilitating rapid development and delivery of software projects.
  • Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Leverage AWS cloud services to architect, deploy, and enhance cloud-based solutions, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
  • Investigate and resolve production incidents, employing root cause analysis and implementing corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define infrastructure needs, and align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, integrating relevant advancements into the DevOps workflow.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Over 5 years of extensive experience in Kubernetes orchestration and administration, including cluster deployment and management.
  • At least 3 years of experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, NewRelic, and ELK.
  • More than 10 years of experience in Linux System Administration and Networking.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills through previous roles in team management.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security practices within Kubernetes environments.
  • Solid background in Linux System Administration.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience in Agile development teams.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS cloud services and infrastructure architecture.
  • Understanding of networking and infrastructure security.
  • Experience with AWS Direct Connect, Site-to-Site VPN, Transit Gateway, Equinix, and Megaport.
  • Willingness to occasionally work outside of standard hours to support customers.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, and relevant networking certifications are advantageous.
