POSITION OVERVIEW:

Senior System Administrator (Linux)/Network Administrator

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

HHS Technology Group is on the lookout for a highly experienced and driven Senior System Administrator with a solid background in Linux, AWS, Kubernetes, virtualization, and networking. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in managing Kubernetes clusters and virtual machines, along with the capability to lead and mentor a team. This position is pivotal in enhancing our deployment processes, improving system reliability, and influencing our infrastructure design.

KEY DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Oversee the architecture, deployment, and upkeep of Kubernetes clusters and virtual machines, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the DevOps team, promoting a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Work alongside software development teams to design, implement, and sustain CI/CD pipelines for seamless software updates.
  • Manage network configurations and security measures within Kubernetes environments to facilitate effective communication and data management.
  • Encourage the adoption of Agile methodologies, fostering rapid development and delivery of software projects.
  • Design and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) utilizing tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Leverage AWS cloud services to architect and optimize cloud-based solutions, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
  • Investigate and resolve production incidents, employing root cause analysis and corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify requirements and align technical solutions with organizational objectives.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating relevant advancements into the DevOps workflow.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Over 5 years of extensive experience in Kubernetes orchestration and administration.
  • 3+ years of experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, NewRelic, and ELK.
  • 10+ years of experience in Linux System Administration and Networking.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills through previous team management roles.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and security practices within Kubernetes.
  • Solid background in Linux System Administration.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and working in Agile teams.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS cloud services and infrastructure design.
  • Familiarity with networking and infrastructure security.
  • Experience with AWS Direct Connect, Site-to-Site VPN, and related technologies.
  • Willingness to occasionally work outside standard hours to support clients.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to technical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer are advantageous.
