About the Role

The Associate Vice President (AVPR) for Faculty Affairs and Campus Engagement is a key leadership position within the Office of Research at the University of Georgia. This role is responsible for leading the Office of Research initiatives and activities in supporting faculty researchers, overseeing professional development programs, and campus engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research Personnel Professional Development
    • Coordinate professional development offerings for research personnel, including team leadership, grant writing, and program management.
    • Develop and implement the Future Faculty for Inclusive Research Excellence (FFIRE) program.
    • Oversee internal and external research honors programs.
  • Research Personnel Policies and Position Management
    • Develop and implement campus-wide policies and position management for postdoctoral researchers, visiting scholars and affiliates, and research scientists.
  • Campus Engagement
    • Direct campus engagement efforts, including the Research Communication and Collaboration Roundtable (RCCR) meetings, OoR Open House, and OoR Research Symposium.
    • Liaise with assigned Colleges/Schools and support new campus-wide research centers, institutes, and initiatives.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a current UGA Professor with Tenure, possessing a terminal degree and extensive background in building successful academic recognition or honors programs. They will also have expertise in building professional development programs for academic or research populations, including training and program management.
