Job Overview:

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services is seeking a highly skilled individual to perform senior-level systems administration tasks. This role is pivotal in ensuring the upkeep, configuration, and dependable operation of our systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and upgrading computer components and system software, while also supervising the work of junior staff members. This position requires a high degree of independence and initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development, modification, and support of custom Windows 10/11 operating systems for the agency.
  • Document and communicate internal processes and procedures to IT personnel and external vendors.
  • Act as Tier III technical support, overseeing trouble tickets and coordinating with support staff and vendors for resolution.
  • Collaborate with various technical teams, including IT Field Operations, App Development, IT Security, and external vendors.
  • Coordinate and execute server, system, or application patching and updates using tools such as Intune, SCCM, and WSUS.
  • Provide on-call support in a 24/7 operational environment as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

The System Administrator is expected to adhere to all licensing agreements and comply with the standards set forth by the Department of Information Resources (DIR). Regular attendance and adherence to agency leave policies are required, along with the performance of other assigned duties.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with contemporary imaging standards and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Windows server administration.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of IT operations, responsibilities, and workflow processes.
  • Awareness of relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Skill in information gathering, resource organization, and project/task prioritization.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple tasks accurately.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Analytical skills to assess systems and procedures, revise standards, and supervise others.
