Quality Assurance Leader - Manufacturing

Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled individual with exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in manufacturing, enabling them to serve as a technical authority in the inspection process and in evaluating various manufacturing methodologies. A requisite level of technical proficiency in manufacturing and inspection techniques is essential to effectively engage with and earn the respect of colleagues within the organization.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a precision manufacturing setting that adheres to an ISO-based quality framework.
  • 8-10 years of experience in leadership or management roles.
  • Familiarity with CAD software is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all functions of the Inspection Department, ensuring proficiency in the following areas (while inspectors may perform much of this work, you should also be capable):
  • Assessing parts against specifications using appropriate measurement tools.
  • Creating or adjusting CMM programs and developing necessary fixtures.
  • Conducting incoming inspections on raw materials, including castings.
  • Executing "First Piece", Daily AQL, and Final Inspections on a diverse range of components.
  • Collaborating with operators to address discrepancies.
  • Screening parts as necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate manual and digital records as required.
  • Carrying out Capability Studies as needed.
  • Fostering continuous improvement in employee skills through training and mentorship.
  • Addressing HR-related matters that may arise within the quality team.
  • Evaluating employee eligibility for raises.
  • Participating in the recruitment process for new personnel.
  • Leading the MRB board to resolve part-related issues through the Discrepant Material Report system.
  • Representing management in Quality discussions during quarterly meetings.
  • Interpreting customer specifications and resolving discrepancies between differing perspectives.
  • Acting as a liaison for customers regarding Quality matters.
  • Developing inspection plans and capability studies in collaboration with customers as needed.
  • Providing various inspection data or study results to customers as required.
  • Supervising and engaging in the ongoing enhancement of procedures and documentation.
  • Defining, developing, and managing continuous quality documentation and method updates.
  • Conducting Contract Reviews to verify order requirements for gage needs and documentation.
  • Assisting the front office in collaborating with customers to establish requirements and costs for gaging, special inspections, and capability studies.
  • Overseeing the Calibration System and Tool Management.
  • Managing external calibration vendors and supervising internal calibration processes.
  • Ensuring that all company and employee tools are properly calibrated.
  • Guaranteeing the availability of the necessary tools for optimal performance.
  • Promoting a quality-centric culture throughout the organization.
  • Upholding a spirit of respect among all employees.
