ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you a seasoned professional in the field of Geomatics looking to advance your career? VHB's innovative Geomatics team is on the lookout for a skilled Project Leader to join our dynamic operations in New England. If you possess a robust background in Land Surveying with experience in various applications such as boundary determinations, topographic surveys, utility surveys, highway surveys, and subdivisions, we would like to connect with you. This position requires a forward-thinking approach to the latest technologies and a proven history of effectively managing land surveying projects. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project management, including budget, scope, and schedule for a range of land survey projects, from small to large scale.
  • Lead project teams and maintain client relationships.
  • Conduct and supervise surveying calculations.
  • Analyze and interpret public records, including deeds and plans relevant to the project.
  • Review and certify the work completed by team members with precision and accuracy.
  • Maintain detailed notes, records, and sketches to document and validate work performed.
  • Coordinate field teams and Survey/CAD Technicians.
  • Perform field checks and ensure quality control of all deliverables.
  • Collaborate with other teams in an integrated service environment.
  • Execute field-to-finish land surveying tasks.

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Land Surveying, including legal standards, boundary determinations, and ALTA specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering, architectural, and structural drawings.
  • Familiarity with local subdivision and zoning regulations.
  • In-depth understanding of contemporary survey technologies and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Capability to direct and oversee construction layout services.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities.
  • Driven to lead and mentor colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in land surveying/geomatics, including management of large-scale, complex projects.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A degree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional Land Surveyor license is preferred.
  • Experience in client management and business development.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of field and office land surveying, including boundary line and topographic surveys as well as construction stakeout.
