Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled individual with exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in manufacturing, enabling them to serve as a technical authority in the inspection processes and the analysis of various manufacturing operations. A significant level of technical knowledge in manufacturing and inspection techniques is essential to effectively engage with and earn the respect of colleagues.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a precision manufacturing setting utilizing an ISO-compliant quality system.
- 8-10 years of experience in leadership or management roles.
- Familiarity with CAD software is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all functions of the Inspection Department, ensuring the following tasks are completed (while inspectors may handle much of this work, you should also be capable):
- Measure components against specifications using appropriate tools.
- Write or adjust CMM programs and develop necessary fixtures.
- Conduct incoming inspections on raw materials, including castings.
- Perform "First Piece", Daily AQL, and Final Inspections on various components.
- Communicate with operators regarding any discrepancies found.
- Screen parts as necessary.
- Maintain accurate manual and electronic records as required.
- Conduct Capability Studies as needed.
- Enhance the skills of your team through training and mentoring.
- Address HR-related matters that may arise within your quality team.
- Assess eligibility for employee raises.
- Participate in the recruitment process for new team members.
- Lead the MRB board to resolve part issues through the Discrepant Material Report system.
- Act as the management representative for Quality during quarterly management meetings.
- Interpret customer specifications and resolve discrepancies between differing perspectives.
- Customer Interaction:
- Serve as the liaison for customers regarding Quality matters.
- Develop inspection plans and capability studies in collaboration with customers as needed.
- Provide various inspection data or study results to customers as required.
- Oversee and contribute to the ongoing improvement of procedures and documentation.
- Define, develop, and manage continuous quality documentation and method updates.
- Conduct Contract Reviews to verify order requirements for gage needs and documentation.
- Assist the front office in collaborating with customers to establish requirements and costs for gaging, special inspections, and capability studies.
- Manage the Calibration System and Tool Oversight.
- Supervise external calibration vendors and manage internal calibration systems.
- Ensure all company and employee tools are calibrated appropriately.
- Guarantee the company has the necessary tools to operate at peak efficiency.
- Promote a quality-centric mindset throughout the organization.
- Foster a culture of respect among all employees.
