Empower Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students: Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Soliant Education is in search of a committed and enthusiastic Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH). This full-time, on-site role presents a fulfilling opportunity to positively influence the educational journey of students with hearing challenges within a K-8th grade framework.

Position Overview:

As a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, your contribution will be vital in addressing the academic, social, and communicative requirements of students with hearing impairments. You will cultivate a supportive and engaging atmosphere where students can excel. Your duties will encompass:

  • Creating and executing tailored education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
  • Employing diverse communication strategies, including American Sign Language (ASL), auditory-verbal techniques, and assistive technologies, to effectively instruct and engage students.
  • Delivering direct teaching in core subjects, social competencies, and self-advocacy skills aligned with the K-8th grade curriculum.
  • Collaborating with classroom educators, specialists, and other professionals to establish a holistic support network for students with hearing impairments.
  • Evaluating students' educational needs and progress, making necessary modifications to instructional strategies.
  • Championing the needs and rights of students with hearing impairments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related discipline.
  • Valid teaching certification/license in Deaf Education or a related field.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with additional communication methods utilized by students with hearing impairments.
  • Preferred experience working with students with hearing impairments in a K-8 educational environment.
  • Strong grasp of deaf education methodologies and best practices for elementary and middle school learners.
  • Exceptional communication, teamwork, and interpersonal abilities.
