Soliant Education is in search of a committed and enthusiastic Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH). This full-time, on-site role provides a unique opportunity to positively influence the educational journey of students with hearing impairments within a K-8 educational framework.

Position Overview:

As a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, you will be instrumental in addressing the academic, social, and communicative requirements of students with hearing challenges. Your role will involve creating a supportive and engaging atmosphere conducive to student growth. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and executing tailored education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
  • Employing diverse communication strategies, such as American Sign Language (ASL), auditory-verbal techniques, and assistive technologies, to effectively instruct and engage students.
  • Delivering direct educational instruction across various subjects, social skills, and self-advocacy pertinent to the K-8 curriculum.
  • Collaborating with fellow educators, specialists, and other professionals to establish a comprehensive support network for students with hearing impairments.
  • Evaluating students' educational needs and progress, making necessary modifications to instructional approaches.
  • Championing the needs and rights of students with hearing challenges.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related discipline.
  • Valid teaching certification/license in Deaf Education or a related area for the state of Louisiana.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with other communication methods utilized by students with hearing impairments.
  • Preferred experience working with students with hearing challenges in a K-8 educational environment.
  • Strong grasp of deaf education methodologies and best practices for elementary and middle school students.
  • Exceptional communication, teamwork, and interpersonal abilities.
