Overview

A Nutritional Services Associate plays a vital role in the Food Service Department, contributing to various areas such as Patient Services, Retail Café, and Food Production. Associates may receive training to operate in different capacities within the department based on operational requirements. Below are the potential roles that Associates may be trained for, each with specific essential duties and responsibilities defined by the assigned area.

Shift: Full-time, 30+ hours

Pay: $17.01 Hourly Rate

The listed pay represents the hourly range or rate for this position. Actual offers may vary based on the applicant's experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and market alignment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold ABM Industries' Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Ensure proper operation, storage, and sanitation of equipment.
  • Practice accurate portioning in recipes and food service to minimize waste and maintain quality.
  • Prepare and assemble food according to standardized recipes and methods.
  • Deliver meals to patients of various age groups.
  • Provide catering services for meals, meetings, or special events.
  • Notify supervisors regarding equipment and food supply issues, including spoiled or defective items.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding food orders during meal service.
  • Order food and supplies as necessary.
  • Organize work schedules to ensure timely food preparation and service.
  • Handle cash transactions with accuracy.
  • Assist in maintaining department equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Operate mechanical floor cleaning equipment.
  • Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping and mopping.
  • Return kitchen equipment to its designated location.
  • Clean walls, ceiling tiles, and vents as required.
  • Engage in professional development through educational programs and meetings.
  • Attend required meetings and in-services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, objectives, and safety standards.
  • Utilize excellent customer service skills consistently.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws, as well as accreditation and licensing requirements.
  • Be open to cross-training in other areas within the department as needed.
  • Follow HACCP standards for food handling and safety.
  • Adhere to the established uniform policy.
  • Complete necessary logs for food safety and temperature monitoring.
  • Assist in training new staff members as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must meet all requirements for working in specific environments, including a ten-year work history if available.
  • No prior experience is required; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • A high school diploma, GED, or college degree is not required.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Participate in scheduled department meetings.
  • Complete annual age-specific competencies.
  • Fulfill mandatory hospital education requirements.
  • Meet TB, immunization, and employee health requirements.
  • Engage in department-specific education and skill development.
