Job Summary

This is a leadership role that oversees the daily operations of the pharmacy department at our assigned facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective delivery of patient care, meeting clinical and operational objectives, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operations: Manage and evaluate the operations, programs, and resources of the pharmacy department to ensure the safe and appropriate delivery of patient care, achievement of clinical core measurement scores, and compliance with organizational values, professional standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Staff Management and Development: Plan, manage, and evaluate the work of clinical and administrative staff, ensuring they are qualified and properly trained to perform assigned job duties, and providing guidance, counseling, and development opportunities to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all aspects of clinical operations are conducted and documented in compliance with relevant internal policies, standards, and procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements, and identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes as needed.
  • Performance/Quality Improvement: Work with the management team to ensure the application of consistent practices relating to internal operations, patient care, quality of human resources activities, and standards, and assess the strengths and weaknesses of the assigned clinical area to identify opportunities for quality and performance improvement.
  • Procedures Development/Implementation: Recommend, implement, and evaluate new or revised procedures, guidelines, training materials, and general communications to ensure consistency with the philosophy and values of the organization and compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Short- and Long-Term Planning: Participate in the development of strategies, initiatives, and programs addressing matters such as provision of new services, standardization of procedures, increasing market share, maximizing resources, cross-selling services, improving cost-effectiveness of clinical services provided, and enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Budget Administration: Identify resources needed to accomplish the performance objectives of the assigned facility, participate in the development of the annual operating and capital budget, exercise effective cost control, and monitor and adjust expenses as needed to stay within budget.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of recent pharmacy work experience.
  • Demonstrated change management, standardization, and leadership development skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to create enthusiasm for new programs and different approaches to existing programs required.
  • Demonstrated quality improvement competencies required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of utilization and productivity in a variety of clinical settings required.
  • Active Pharmacist License in good standing in the state in which the employee works.
