Job Summary

The Christman Company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Estimating Engineer Intern to join our preconstruction team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in estimating, value generation techniques, and learning technology applications that support efficient delivery of construction projects.

This internship will provide you with a unique chance to play a crucial role in supporting our preconstruction team and contribute to the success of our projects. You will work closely with our experienced team members to develop project planning skills, including estimating, quantity takeoffs, and material management.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in reading and interpreting project drawings and specifications
  • Develop knowledge of 2D On-Screen Takeoff/3D QTO technologies and our estimating platform
  • Organize quantity takeoffs for ease of audit
  • Estimate interiors and learn basic structural/civil estimating at Design Development/Construction level drawings
  • Contact and follow-up with trade contractors/suppliers for pricing
  • Utilize collaboration software for document control and distribution
  • Develop knowledge of construction pricing and make recommendations for software upgrades and database pricing changes
  • Participate in active project site visits and experience in-progress construction processes
  • Assist in developing 4D models, Facility Asset Management Models, and utilize Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies
Requirements
  • Active, full-time Freshman-Senior level student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in civil/mechanical/electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field of study
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
