Preconstruction Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Granger Construction Company. The successful candidate will provide preconstruction support through conceptual estimating, as well as occasional hard bid work.

• Lead in all aspects of preconstruction, including estimating, budgeting, planning, logistics, scheduling, and execution.
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, attend design meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required content of estimates.
• Assemble and communicate estimates on complex projects, including from conceptual to detailed bids and hard bid projects.
• Constantly search for value engineering opportunities at every stage of a project.
• Effectively communicate conceptual ideas and goals with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the desired result and financial success of all projects.
• Analyze historical cost information and leverage various sources of data to create cost models utilized for future project opportunities.
• Build and maintain a network of trade and A/E partners to support cost benchmarking and bid day coverage.

• Bachelor's degree in building construction management, civil engineering or other engineering discipline.
• Minimum of five (5) years related experience. Eight or more years of related experience is preferred.
• Excellent computer skills, including the ability to make effective use of office, estimating, scheduling, and accounting software and to participate in the development of new or improved company technologies.
• Experience with CostX is preferred.
• Deep knowledge and experience in commercial building, construction materials and systems with the ability to guide the project team to appropriate decisions based on best value.
• Ability to accurately calculate and confirm mathematical calculations.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, analyzing data and developing creative, resourceful solutions while taking calculated risks.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills. Ability to communicate and present design and/or construction ideas to a variety of audiences.
• Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Assertive, highly motivated, organized and a self-starting individual.
