Position Overview

Role: Substance Use Disorder Counselor - Preferred Certification

Your Role as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor:

The Substance Use Disorder Counselor plays a vital role in guiding patients through their treatment and recovery from opioid use disorder. Counselors deliver compassionate care through various methods, including both individual and group therapy sessions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality, empathetic guidance in individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Plan, manage, facilitate, and document patient recovery processes.
  • Co-facilitate assigned group or family therapy sessions as required.
  • Ensure timely and clear documentation of patient care, treatment, and incidents.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans for each assigned patient.
  • Conduct initial assessments and follow-up evaluations.
  • Assess patient needs and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are necessary.
  • Plan aftercare for assigned patients as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention to patients when required.
  • Manage case responsibilities for patients, ensuring personalized quality care.
  • Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients as necessary.
Compensation:

Compensation for positions at Sacramento Comprehensive Treatment Center varies based on multiple factors, including location, role, skill set, and experience level.

Qualifications:

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in social or health services preferred.
  • Degree must be from an accredited institution.
  • Prior experience and knowledge in addiction recovery and/or MAT (medication-assisted treatment) settings.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
  • RADT registration required.
  • Certification or License preferred.
  • Must be obtained from a California-approved Counselor Certification Organization (RADT, CAADE, CADTP, or CCAPP); or LMFT, LCSW, PhD, or PsyD.
