Physician Advisor, Care Coordination, Part-Time

As a Physician Advisor, you will play a critical role in our Care Coordination Team, working closely with hospital leadership to develop and implement strategies for improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.
Job SummaryThe Physician Advisor will provide medical staff leadership to the Utilization Management Committee (UMC) and functions of the Care Coordination department. This role requires a strong understanding of utilization management principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be a board-certified physician with experience in a hospital setting and a proven track record of improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.
Responsibilities- Provide medical staff leadership to the UMC and functions of the Care Coordination department
- Develop and implement strategies for improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to identify and address areas for improvement
- Provide education and training to medical staff on utilization management principles and practices
- Participate in daily Interdisciplinary Rounds and provide clinical input on patient care
- Review and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs
- Active MD or DO license for the state where practicing
- Active hospital medical staff member in good standing with hospital required
- Two years' experience in a physician leadership role preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collegial role with members of the medical staff and to engage in education to hospital medical staff preferred
- Familiarity with the principles and procedures of utilization management as practiced in acute care hospitals and managed care organizations
- Possess or acquire a solid foundation, knowledge, and/or experience in the areas of utilization management, quality improvement, and patient safety
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of the EHR and care management applications
- Knowledge of CMS and MediCal guidelines
