Mental Health Technician

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Technician to join our team at SummitRidge Hospital. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care activities and tasks that support the maintenance of the therapeutic milieu.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with admission of patients to the unit, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
- Search patient belongings upon admission and collect items of potential self-harm, adhering to unit policy.
- Orient patients to the unit environment, taking into account their condition and needs.
- Ensure patients have all personal belongings and escort them safely out of the hospital at discharge.
- Render quality patient care, including taking and recording vital signs, measuring and recording intake and output, weighing patients, and keeping information boards current.
- Observe assigned patients for ordered observation levels and report any changes in condition to the assigned nurse, recording relevant information in patient charts.
- Participate in unit milieu programs by facilitating or co-facilitating patient groups and assisting patients in structured activities.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, being knowledgeable about policies and procedures regarding medical emergencies, fire plans, disaster plans, and non-medical emergencies.

Qualifications
- BS or BA degree in psychology, social work, or a related field with one year of inpatient experience in mental health, or three years of experience in mental health care/social service may be substituted for or considered in lieu of degree.
- Skilled in effective verbal and written communications, interviewing, and counseling.
