Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our Human Resources team at OmniSource. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the accounting and administration of our benefit programs and performing advanced payroll functions.

Responsibilities
  • Process multi-state, corporate payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including profit sharing, retirement savings, health and dental plans, life and disability plans, family medical leave, cafeteria plan, stock plans, and other benefits.
  • Present employee benefit topics at employee meetings, company picnics, and other company events, ensuring effective communication and engagement.
  • Process new hire enrollments, terminations, and changes, maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records.
  • Perform E-Verify on corporate new hires and act as divisional back-up, ensuring compliance with immigration laws.
  • Perform other duties as required, including data analysis, reporting, and problem-solving.
Requirements
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, a related field, or equivalent technical training.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in benefits, payroll, or a combination thereof.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, with ability to consolidate multiple sets of data.
  • Experience working with UKG and/or Dimension systems a plus.
  • Experience using vendor administrative software, including data entry and reporting, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, auditing concepts, and controls, and payroll taxes.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with ability to use sound judgment and initiative.
  • Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision and multi-task.
