Your Role

As the Embedded Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for guiding and supporting teams focused on embedded software design and testing. This position requires both leadership and hands-on involvement. Key duties include:
  • Direct and support embedded software design and testing teams, including an offshore testing team, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.
  • Strategize and execute embedded software design, development, and testing initiatives, effectively managing priorities and resources.
  • Ensure the development of embedded software for electronic systems adheres to functional safety standards.
  • Oversee the formulation and implementation of embedded software testing strategies, advocating for automation and efficient defect management.
  • Collaborate with various departments, suppliers, and partners to meet organizational objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and professional growth opportunities for team members.
  • Create and develop innovative solutions, conduct engineering analyses, and address field-related challenges.
  • Establish benchmarks and expectations for embedded software design and testing methodologies.
  • Formulate and execute a thorough embedded software testing approach that aligns with industry standards.
  • Implement robust defect tracking and management systems to ensure prompt issue resolution.
  • Balance responsibilities as a manager with contributions as an individual contributor.
Qualifications

To thrive and advance in your career at The Toro Company, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (required).
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Business Management (preferred).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in embedded software development with practical product design and testing (required).
  • At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory role (preferred).
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in embedded software development with hands-on product design and testing (required).
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience (preferred).
  • A strong grasp of hardware-software integration (required).
  • Experience with intricate electrical, mechanical, and software design for embedded systems (required).
  • Proficiency in developing product specifications and system engineering (required).
  • Expertise in various testing methodologies: functional, regression, performance, usability, and security (required).
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement processes in testing automation (required).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • A strong customer focus and the ability to anticipate needs.
  • Capability to mentor team members and guide their development.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • A results-oriented mindset, with a strong sense of integrity.
